Test Corrections
Test corrections will be made *at teacher's discretion*. Corrections are not offered or guaranteed for every assignment
- Students who receive a 75% or below on their Mid Module or End of Module Assessments are eligible to make corrections.
- Tests must be signed by a parent/guardian and brought back to school in order to make corrections.
- No corrections can be made at home. Students must bring their original test back with parent signature and work in school to do corrections (students may study at home).
- Students may do corrections before school, during recess, during lunch, or after school if agreed on by a parent and myself.
- Corrections will be offered on an individual basis. If students are not completing the given study guides or meeting with me in small groups to discuss them, they will be given a limit of two corrections per trimester.
- For the first test (Mid Module 1 Assessment) full points will be given back for any correct corrections that are made. After this test, half credit will be given for corrections.
Homework and Extra Practice
I will not be sending homework home on a regular basis, so please do not expect to see daily work from math class. Daily lesson outlines are posted on the home page every week along with what to expect for the week. The only weekly math work that will be given and graded is our math morning work. Students have time to do this in school, so they may not be bringing it home. Please see below for more info about Morning Work.
If you or your child feel they could use extra practice with anything, www.commoncoresheets.com is a good resource to use for extra worksheets. Www.kahnacademy.com also has great videos with step by step instructions that are directly aligned to our Eureka curriculum. Students already have a log in and password.
In the Eureka Math page, you can find Parent Tip sheets with what to expect, vocabulary, and examples and a Student Workbook. Most of the pages will be used in class and there are times that I skip around with the order of lessons, so we do not follow the workbook exactly in the provided order. This will allow you to see exactly what your student is doing every day.

Morning Work
Students will be given math morning work every week. It has work to complete for Monday-Thursday. Students are given time from 7:45 when they come in in the morning until 8:10 when we start class. This should be enough time to work, but if students need more time they can bring it home as needed to complete for homework.
When I grade morning work I grade for ONLY the following things:
I am not grading on accuracy, so if your student does not remember something, they need to do their best to complete it and come up with an answer. My focus for morning work is more that students are putting 100% effort into working their way through problems, refreshing past skills, and persevering to come up with an answer even if they are unsure.
If students need help with a certain concept they can bring their morning work to our small groups in math where I meet with students at least 3 times per week and we can work through the problem(s) together.
When I grade morning work I grade for ONLY the following things:
- All problems are completed to the best of the students ability.
- Work is shown for every problem.
- An answer is formulated for every problem.

6th Grade Make Up Policy
Any students who miss a class must come to their teacher(s) for the missed work. Students will have TWO DAYS to make up the work (if the absence is more than one day, students will have as many days as they missed to make up the work). Until the work is done it will show up as a 49% in Home Access. Once the work is completed, the grade will change accordingly. We will not track students down to make up missed assignments. This also goes for students who miss class because of band, chorus, and percussion ensemble.
Home Access Grades
Grades in Home Access will be updated after each assignment. There will be a minimum of 3 grades entered I will not be sending assessments home to be signed unless they are for corrections, but all assignments are sent home so please check in with your student if you'd like to see their graded work. I can send a copy of any test/papers home at any time or work with you to set up a system with you and your student if you'd like more information per your request. You can find your student's grade in Home Access. If you need help accessing your Home Access, please contact Trina Willey in the main office.
